Iron Infusions

With the recent addition of iron for intravenous infusion to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme our Practice is pleased to be able to offer an intravenous iron infusion service for those unable to tolerate oral iron or needing their iron stores replenished quickly. The newer forms of intravenous iron are able to be given much quicker than the older products so an infusion can take as little as 15 minutes. Pneumococcal vaccine

Pneumococcal vaccination is recommended for all patients at the age of 65 years. The vaccination reduces your risk of developing a serious pneumonia. The government provides the vaccination for free. A second vaccination at 70 years is recommended for those patients particularly at risk of pneumonia (heart and lungs conditions, poor immunity, complicated diabetes etc) and your doctor will organise this with you.

Medicare rebate cuts

Fortunately the Coalition government withdrew their proposal to halve the Medicare patient rebate for shorter consultations that was to commence on January 19, 2015.  This rebate reduction would have severely disadvantaged those patients who do not require long consultations such as children and the residents of aged care facilities and would have made our wound care service unaffordable due to the high cost of modern dressings.
