Welcome to Our Practice
Summerdale Medical Practice is a privately owned medical practice in Launceston, Tasmania that has been providing quality, holistic healthcare to our patients since 1975.
We are open 7 days a week including most public holidays. Consulting hours are from 8.00 am – 7.00 pm Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 6.00pm Fridays and 9.00 am – 3.30 pm on weekends and public holidays (subject to patient demand). Outside of these hours, one of our doctors is always on call for emergencies and we utilise GP Assist, a local Tasmanian phone triage service that can provide our patients with after hours medical advice and support, or contact our on call doctor if required.
We are committed to providing comprehensive general practice care of the best possible standard. We provide “cradle to grave” medical care to our patients in the community, as well as to our local aged care facilities.
We are also proud to be a teaching practice, having provided training to a large number of GP registrars, medical students and nursing students over the years.
The doctors at this practice have Vocational Registration and have all satisfied the training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, or are accredited registrars with General Practice Training Tasmania, working under supervision towards achieving their full specialist general practitioner qualification. These factors guarantee our doctors’ commitment to quality medical care and continuing medical education.
The Practice is fully accredited and externally audited on a regular basis by AGPAL, consistently achieving their high standards.
This practice has developed a privacy policy that complies with the privacy legislation and National Privacy Provisions. All patients consultations and medical records are kept strictly confidential.
The Summerdale Medical Practice is fully accredited under the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ guidelines. We are regularly externally audited by peers and professionals to ensure accreditation standards are maintained and to ensure the medical safety and highest level of health care for all of our patients.
